In a region where housing demand continues to outpace supply, building well matters. Not just building quickly or efficiently, but building homes that people can truly live in, grow into, and stay in.
For New Pointe Communities, that belief has guided nearly two decades of work across San Diego County.
As an experienced infill builder, the team focuses on transforming raw land into thoughtfully designed communities. From single homes to larger developments, they manage the full process, from land acquisition through construction, while maintaining a hands-on approach and a high standard of quality.
A Family Legacy in Building
New Pointe’s story began in 2007, when founder Scot Sandstorm began rebuilding homes in Rancho Bernardo after a series of devastating fires. At the time, like many in the industry, he was navigating uncertainty. What started as a small opportunity to rebuild a handful of homes quickly became something more meaningful.
Helping families return to their homes after loss reshaped how he viewed the work. It was no longer just about construction. It was about providing a path forward during one of the most difficult moments in a homeowner’s life.
That mindset became the foundation of the company.
Today, that legacy continues through his nephew, Tyler Sandstorm, who has spent nearly 17 years growing with the business. Over time, the philosophy has remained consistent: build homes with the same level of care and intention as if they were your own.

Rebuilding When It Matters Most
While New Pointe has since grown into a full-scale infill builder, rebuilding after wildfires remains a defining part of the company’s identity. These projects require more than technical execution. They require empathy, patience, and a deep understanding of what homeowners are going through.
One early experience left a lasting impression. During a rebuild, a family gathered around freshly poured concrete and pressed their children’s handprints into the surface before it set. It was a small moment, but one that carried meaning far beyond the job itself.
“It made me realize it is bigger than just building a home.”
That same level of care extends to every project New Pointe takes on, regardless of size or circumstance. Rather than delivering a base product that requires homeowners to invest additional time and money into upgrades, New Pointe focuses on getting it right from the start. They understand the character of the area, the expectations of homeowners, and the responsibility that comes with contributing to a community they are part of.
The Right Partners Make the Difference
Behind every project is a network of people working together to bring it to life. Construction is never a solo effort, and New Pointe approaches it as a collaborative process from start to finish.
That has been reflected in their recent work with Builders Capital, including an All-in-One Construction Loan supporting the buildout of 15 single-family homes in Vista, California. The $10MM loan, structured with an 18-month term, has allowed the team to move efficiently from development through construction, with the project already nearing completion and initial homes delivered to market.
More than the structure itself, it is the consistency behind it that matters. From initial underwriting to ongoing draws during construction, the ability to move quickly and resolve issues as they arise helps keep projects on track.
That level of partnership ultimately supports more than just timelines. It allows the team to stay focused on what they do best, delivering high-quality homes, while knowing the financial side of the project is being handled with the same level of care and attention.

Looking Ahead
As New Pointe continues to grow, the focus remains steady. The team is committed to building more single-family homes across San Diego, where demand continues to outpace supply.
With new projects underway, including a 27-home development in Escondido, they are working to create more opportunities for people to stay in the communities they love.
For Tyler, that mission is rooted in personal experience. Having lived in San Diego his entire life, he has seen how affordability challenges have impacted friends and family. Creating more housing supply is not just a business objective, but a way to help preserve access to the communities that shaped his own life.
In a market where housing often feels increasingly out of reach, that work carries real weight. It supports not only the families who move into these homes, but also the broader network of people whose livelihoods depend on the building industry.
For New Pointe, the goal is not to be the largest builder. It’s to build with intention, to stay connected to the communities they serve, and to carry forward a legacy rooted in doing the work the right way.
